Looking to try something new and enjoyable? Need a bit of one-on-one guidance from a reliable professional? Sometimes all it takes to really understand the material is a considerate instructor who knows how to teach at your pace.
With the internet so prevalent in everyone's lives today, it is so easy just to go on and type into a search engine how to play the guitar, or get a video lesson on how to play a certain way, style, technique, or song. I am a great fan of this and wish these resources were available to me when younger. However, there is nothing like having someone with experience looking at your playing and giving guidance on where you need to improve. Pass on the information of just alter that hand position slightly, try it playing it here instead of there. What to work on first so that you can achieve what you want quickly and successfully.
Having played the guitar for over 30 years, performing live and teaching, I bring a depth of professional experience and knowledge to those who are eager to expand their minds, talents, and skills. I offer quality, personalised service at affordable prices.
Its all about the student
Famous guitarists can be recognised by their own unique playing style because they have learned how to express themselves through the instrument. When the guitar is taught it is often taught as you must play this way, hold your hand like this, not like that, do it this way. In reality, this stunts the student's growth as a musician and prevents them from developing their own unique voice. The way I teach is to demonstrate, observe the student and tweak the way they are playing to suit their hands, stature, just the way their basic ergonomics work. Someone with short arms and fingers needs to hold the guitar in a different way from someone with long fingers and arms.
Success in learning frequently depends on finding the right Music Teacher; someone who knows the subject well and understands how to inspire others. As an experienced and passionate guitar player, my teaching style focuses on skills training, but also emphasises self-exploration and discovering a passion for something new.
Playing the guitar is about playing songs to the entertainment of others and for your own pleasure. In order to develop, some basics need to be learned along with some techniques and how to apply them. Some songs are then learned using these basics and techniques, from there learning how to perform the songs is developed. The circle then starts again moving on from the basics and developing more knowledge of the instrument and further techniques that can be used. This leads to growth in a fun and interesting hobby or career.
