FAQ

Your common questions answered

Contact: FAQ

WHERE DO YOU HOLD LESSONS?

Lessons are held in my music room in my home in Glenrothes, Fife or at the Rothes Halls at the Kingdom Centre in Glenrothes.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

A guitar, plectrum (is required), and a willingness to learn.

WHO IS WELCOME TO COME ALONG?

I have a no discrimination policy and teach anybody of any age, gender, orientation or ability. All I ask is for reasonable behaviour during the lesson. As with most businesses, aggressive behaviour or language will not be tolerated.

CAN YOU TEACH A TOTAL BEGINNER?

Yes, All guitarists were beginners at one point. The beginning stages of guitar can seem overwhelming at times, together we break it down into simpler elements and gradually work on them till they start to feel natural and merge the parts back together again. As long as the guitar is picked up and used most days in between lessons, success will happen.

I ALREADY PLAY, WHY SHOULD I COME TO LESSONS?

As a person develops on guitar - as with any skill - your tutor should develop with you. They should continue to provide information and education but a good teacher/ tutor will then provide training to build on your skills, they will mentor you on your development and become your coach to your ongoing success. Why restrict your own development by not getting someone to help you develop further?

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

I offer a free, no obligation introductory lesson. At this lesson we spend some time working on your guitar playing, then we discuss the various programmes on offer and the varying prices.

A £10 deposit is required for your introductory session. This is refunded when you turn up.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO BEFORE THE FIRST LESSON?

Before the first lesson, we should have a short conversation about what you want from the tuition. Give examples of which guitarists influence you and any bands you wish to play like, or songs you wish to learn. With all the online services available today, it is very easy to then use this material during the lesson to make sure it is about what you want.
